Transit of Venus at Kitt Peak National Observatory
Hi All,
I just returned from Kitt Peak National Observatory near Tucson, AZ were I setup & photographed the Transit of Venus at the (ARO) 12 meter Radio Telescope site, which actually had the best Western View.
I captured some very nice images up there, we had beautiful weather, and my good friend Dr. Don McCarthy brought his (25th Anniversary) Astronomy Campers & counselors (43) to visit us during the Transit.
Thanks very much to Don for putting us up in ARO Astronomers Quarters. Don made this a trip of a lifetime for me and my friends Ron & Barry!
The Professional Astronomers were all super nice and gave us some private tours, and background history of the different scopes on the Mountain, even got to see some that were not open to the public!
Thanks to ARO Astronomers John & Mike for being great hosts & giving us private tours too!
I really enjoyed my time up there as well as the Transit event…Incredibly AWESOME!
The only bad time was coming home and spending 27 hours in DFW airport delays!
Attached images are H-Alpha close-up, Full Disk H-Alpha, White Light Full Disk, and two shots of Equipment/View!
I have taken many wonderful shots, my close-up views of Venus are my favorites, so you all will get see the best ones over the next few weeks,
I included a shot of me with my equipment, and another showing our View looking West at the 12 Meter Radio Telescope site.
Best Regards,
John Chumack
