M46 & NGC 2438 – Open Cluster & Planetary Nebula in Puppis

This is one of my favorite winter objects. I didn’t realize the planetary was there until I imaged this cluster with my DSI. I suspect the planetary should be visible through a moderate-sized telescope under dark skies. I’ll have to give it a try from my back yard using a light pollution filter.
