Shuttle Endeavour Launch Attempt photo
Hi All,
I was at US1 near Titusville, Florida, right across the Indian River/toward the Kennedy Space Center when I took this photo of the Shuttle Endeavour Launch pad(center with Strobe lights)and assembly building(Right). I captured this 3 minute time exposure photo waiting for the final countdown when they scrubbed the launch last minute, due to High altitude winds and cloud deck issues.
Just 2 hours before launch, the skies seemed crystal clear, I was hoping to see the last night Launch, but it was a no go, It took us 4 hours to get out of the area due to heavy traffic from the scrubbed launch. Crazy...high turn out for this launch.
I am now in Naples(Marco Island) FL, so on the other side of the State for a show, so will likely not get to see this last night launch, unless they hold off another day or two.
I also took some photos of the the Shuttle launch pad close-up thru my C8, its amazing how well I could see the launch pad from 10 miles away. The shuttle Launch pad had lots of Heat waves blowing in front of it..making it difficult to capture a sharp image of it. But I could see the liquid hydrogen tanks venting, which was really neat.
After this last night launch there is only 4 daytime launches left.
Best Regards,
John Chumack
