RR Cep Passes Maximum
Using a parabolic fit through the last 50 days of data reported to the AAVSO it appears that RR Cep passed through it’s most recent maximum early on October 1st (UT) reaching an average brightness of 9.75. This was a first for me, I’ve been watching quite a few long period variable on their way up, or on their way down, but up until now they’re passed out of my viewing area before reaching maximum or minimum. I’ve since moved my scope a bit so I can keep some of the far northern stars under observation for a bit longer. Below is a summary of the observations of RR Cep posted on the AAVSO web site over the past 2 years. GHN are my observations.
Neat stuff.
